Kendra joins us via video link from Detroit, MI, to present the American Library Association's CRAAP method for evaluating sources. CRAAP stands for Currency (the timeliness of information), Relevance (how information relates to a given topic or question), Authority (who is the source, and what are their credentials), Accuracy (reliability, truthfulness, and correctness), and Purpose (what is the source's goal).
Wendy talks about the danger of false slogans, namely "Money is not Speech". She argues that regulating political speech could have the effect of giving corporate media a monopoly in this area, while silencing other groups. The problem is corruption, rather than paid speech.
